Fashion as Activism
3 min readClothes communicate who we are. Sustainable fashion lets you express identity without compromising values.
Your Power as a Consumer
As a consumer you have power, below are few ways you can use that power to make a change:
- Voting with your wallet: Prioritise second-hand and ethical makers; track Cost-Per-Wear and resale rates to reinforce good habits.
- Teach & inspire: Host a style swap night, repair circle, or mini talk at school/campus/community.
- Make use of Community & Collective Power: Join campaigns like Fashion Revolution (#WhoMadeMyClothes) to advocate for wage justice and transparency.
- Create a fashion Manifesto: Write 3 commitments and time box them for accountability.
- Example:
- 80% second-hand for the next 3 months.
- Try to repair before replacing.
- Post one educational story each month highlighting supply chain facts.
- Vist our Act page: On this Act page you can see the interactive tools we created to make sustainability part of your everyday.
Reminder: Your wardrobe is a message, make sure it says what you mean.
